Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Femease collects, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. It is written to meet India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
Femease is run by Merak Labs Private Limited (GSTIN 08AAQCM4231L1Z2) ("Femease", "we", "us"), Bhamashah Techno Hub, Sansthan Path, Jhalana Gram, Malviya Nagar, Jaipur, Rajasthan 302017. For this policy we are the "Data Fiduciary" and you are the "Data Principal".
The short version
- We collect what we need to run the app: your phone number, your profile, your orders and, if you use them, your period and pregnancy tracker, health checks, consultations, Femease Circles and the Community.
- Your health data is used to give you these features, and nothing else unless you say yes.
- We never sell your data. We never show it to advertisers.
- What you post in the Community can be read by other Femease members. Your real name and phone number are never shown there.
- You can see, download, correct or delete your data, and change your choices, from Profile > Privacy choices at any time.
- If your employer pays for Femease, they never see your name, your bookings or your health information.
- Questions or complaints: our Grievance Officer, Vaibhav Tripathi, at hello@femease.in.
Who can use Femease
Femease is made for women's health and is for adults aged 18 and older. Men can also use Femease in ally mode, to support a partner, family member or colleague. In ally mode you can book therapy and couple sessions and read partner guides. The period and pregnancy trackers, health checks, Femease Circles and the Community stay for women only. Indian law treats anyone under 18 as a child, and Femease handles sensitive health information, so we do not allow children to use it, even with a parent's permission. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data, including anything posted in the Community.
What we collect
Account and profile
- Mobile number (to log you in with a one-time code)
- Name, date of birth and, if you add it, email address
- How you use Femease: "for me" or "supporting someone" (ally mode), which you choose when you start and can change in Settings
Health data (only if you use these features)
- Period tracker: period dates, cycle and period length, and daily logs: flow, symptoms, moods, energy, sexual activity and your notes.
- Pregnancy tracker: your last period or due date, whether you expect twins, your weight, symptoms, mood and notes, scan measurements you enter, kick counts, contraction times, your reminders (appointments, medicines, tests) and birth details you choose to add. We do not ask for or store a baby's sex during pregnancy.
- Health checks: your answers to the self-check questions and the result (for example "some signs"). Results are indicative and are not a diagnosis.
- Care and therapy: intake answers (for example your concern and age), any health check result you choose to share with the practitioner you book, and consultation details written by your doctor or therapist, such as prescriptions.
- Messages with your care team or doctor, and the photos and PDFs you choose to send in those chats (we remove location and camera details from photos before storing them).
Femease Circles and the Community
- Circles: the messages you send in your Circle group. Members see your first name only.
- Community: your nickname if you choose one, your posts and replies, your reactions, and reports you make. You can post under your nickname or anonymously. We never show your real name, phone number or photo. We keep a private record of which account wrote each post so we can act on reports and meet the law.
Shopping and payments
- Delivery addresses and the phone number for delivery
- Orders, items, amounts, coupons and Femease Coins
- Return requests (the reason and any note you add)
- Your wishlist, and product reviews you write (shown publicly with your first name and last initial, after moderation)
- Payment status and payment reference numbers from Razorpay. We never see or store your card, UPI PIN or bank login.
Device and usage
- Push notification token, device type (iOS or Android)
- Security logs: IP address and time of logins and sensitive actions
We do not collect your contacts, precise location or advertising ID, and we never look through your photos: the camera and photo picker open only when you choose to send a photo in a chat. The app has no advertising trackers. It uses one analytics tool (PostHog), and only if you say yes to "Help improve Femease" (see below).
Why we use it, and on what basis
We ask for your consent separately for each purpose. You can say yes or no to each one, and change your mind at any time in Profile > Privacy choices.
- Health features (required to use the trackers, health checks, care, Circles and posting in the Community). We process your health data to show predictions, reminders, check results and your history, and to let your doctor or therapist see your intake answers (and any check result you choose to share) to prepare for your session. If you withdraw this consent, we delete your cycle history, period and daily logs, your pregnancy tracking, your health check results and the care intake answers you gave us, straight away and for good, and these features stop working until you allow it again. Download your data first if you want a copy. Records your doctor wrote (consultation notes and prescriptions) are kept, as medical record rules require. Posts you have already published in the Community stay published until you delete them or your account.
- Help improve Femease (optional). With your yes, we (a) record how the app is used, such as "opened a product" or "finished set-up", with a random app id that is not your name or number, using PostHog, so we can see where the app is hard to use; these records never include your cycle, pregnancy, symptoms, moods, readings, care concerns or anything you write; and (b) may use de-identified data (with your name, phone number and other identifiers removed) to check and improve how well our cycle predictions work. We never use either to identify you. If you say no or later withdraw, the app stops sending usage records at once and forgets its analytics id.
- Personalised suggestions (optional). With your yes, we use your cycle, pregnancy, logs, health check results and the products, plans and articles you look at in the app, to suggest products, care and articles that may help you, inside Femease only. Each suggestion says why you are seeing it, and you can hide any you don't want. This also needs your yes to health features. Your browsing for suggestions is kept for 60 days. Suggestions are worked out by Femease alone: we never share your data with brands or advertisers to do it. If you say no or later withdraw, we delete your browsing history for suggestions, your stored suggestions and your "Not for me" list straight away.
- Offers and updates (optional). With your yes, we may send you offers and news by push notification, SMS or email. Order, appointment, Community reply and security messages are not marketing and are sent whatever you choose here (you can turn Community replies off in Profile > Notifications).
We also use your data, without separate consent where the law allows it, to:
- deliver orders, take payments and issue invoices you asked for;
- keep Femease and its members safe: review reported or held posts, prevent spam, fraud and abuse, and show urgent help (such as the Tele-MANAS helpline) when a message suggests someone may be at risk;
- meet legal duties, such as keeping tax records or answering a lawful request from a government authority.
The Community: what others can see
- Your posts and replies, your nickname (or "Anonymous") and the time you posted are visible to signed-in Femease members.
- Verified Femease experts (registered doctors and other practitioners) may answer your posts. Their answers show their name, role and a verified badge.
- Posts may be checked automatically for phone numbers, links and harmful words, and held for a quick review by our moderators before they appear. Posts that suggest someone may harm themselves are held, and we show the writer helpline numbers straight away.
- Please don't share your full name, phone number, address or other identifying details in posts.
Who processes your data for us
We share data only with companies that help us run Femease, and only what each one needs. They act on our instructions and must protect your data.
- Hosting, database and file storage: Google Cloud, Mumbai region (India). Images, documents and chat attachments are stored on our servers there; chat attachments are kept in private storage and shown only through short-lived links.
- Website and network protection: Cloudflare (our website, protection against attacks, and the robot check on website forms)
- Payments: Razorpay
- Login codes by SMS, and codes sent to a work email: MSG91
- App-usage analytics (only with your yes): PostHog (EU data centre)
- Video consultations: Agora (the video call itself; calls are not recorded by Femease)
- Push notifications: Expo, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service. Notifications never include your health details or the text of your messages or posts.
- Doctors and therapists: the practitioner you book sees your name, intake answers, any check result you chose to share and session details, to care for you
- Delivery partners: your name, delivery address and phone number, to deliver your order
- Brands that sell on Femease: when you buy a product sold by another brand, that brand receives your name, delivery address, phone number and the items you bought from it, to deliver them, handle returns and issue its tax invoice. Brands never see your health data or anything else in your account, and may use your details only for your order.
Some of these companies may store data outside India, as Indian law allows. We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
We may disclose data if the law requires it, for example to a court or a government authority acting lawfully.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile: while your account is open. When you delete your account, it is closed at once and erased 7 days later (logging in again within those 7 days brings it back).
- Tracker, pregnancy and health check data: until you delete it, withdraw your consent for health data, or delete your account.
- Care intake answers and shared check results: until you withdraw your consent for health data or delete your account.
- Consultation notes, prescriptions and care chat messages: kept for your care team's records for 3 years after the consultation, as medical record rules require. After your account is deleted they are no longer linked to your name or phone number.
- Circle messages: while your account is open. When your account is erased, your messages are deleted.
- Community posts and replies: until you delete them or your account. When your account is erased, your nickname, reactions, reports, posts and replies are deleted (a thread you started is deleted together with its replies). If our moderators remove a post, we keep a copy for 180 days for investigation, as the IT Rules require, and then delete it.
- Orders, payments and invoices: up to 8 years, as tax law requires. After your account is deleted they keep no name, phone number or address, only the state for tax purposes.
- Product reviews and wishlist: while your account is open; erased when your account is erased. The note you add to a return request is erased then too.
- Browsing for personalised suggestions: 60 days, and only while you say yes to personalised suggestions.
- Consent history: while your account is open, so we can show what you agreed to.
- Security logs and login records: 1 year.
If your employer pays for Femease
Some companies pay so that their staff can use Femease's paid care, such as doctor consults and therapy, at no cost to the employee. This section explains what that means for your data. For this cover, Femease is the Data Fiduciary for your data. Your employer pays for it; it does not control it.
Joining is your choice. Nobody can enrol you. You join from Profile, by entering your work email and a one-time code we email you. Before you join we show you what your employer sees and never sees (below). You can say no, and your Femease account works exactly as before.
The code email passes through your company's mail system. Because the code goes to your work email, your company's email system receives that message. It comes from a neutral sender ("Account verification") with a neutral subject ("Your verification code"), and says nothing about your health or what you use Femease for.
What we collect for employer cover
- Your work email address, and the name of the company it belongs to.
- Your audience choice (whether you use Femease as a woman or as an ally), and whether you joined under that choice, the dates you joined, last re-confirmed and left, and a record of your consent.
- Which covered session you used (consult, therapy or Circle) so we can count it against your yearly allowance.
Why we keep your work email. We keep it only so we can ask you to re-confirm, with a new code, every 90 days, that you still work at the company. We never show it to your employer and never use it for marketing. We erase it when you leave the company plan, when your cover ends, or when you delete your account.
Paused links. If your cover is paused (for example you did not re-confirm in time), we keep your work email only so you can re-confirm. We erase it when you leave the company plan, when your cover ends, or when your account is deleted.
What your employer sees. Only a monthly, anonymous dashboard for the whole company:
- how many staff have joined, as women and allies, and as a share of all staff
- family members covered, as a total only
- sessions used, by type: consults, therapy, Circles and workshops
- the average satisfaction rating
- broad topics, such as Periods & PMS, Mental wellbeing, PCOS (PMOS), Menopause, and Skin & ageing
- the total number of health checks taken (a count, never any result)
What your employer never sees.
- Who joined. No names, emails or lists. Even the fact that you joined is private.
- Anything about you personally: bookings, chats, results, notes.
- Pregnancy, fertility or pregnancy loss, in any form, not even as a topic.
- Any mental-health crisis or urgent health-check result.
- Any split by department, team or office.
Small groups are hidden. Any figure covering fewer than 10 people shows as "fewer than 10", and related figures are hidden so a small group cannot be worked out by subtraction. Figures are updated monthly only. Our experts never report to your employer, and they cannot tell whether your booking is covered. Companies agree, in their contract with us, not to ask for, or try to obtain, any individual's data.
If your partner is covered too. Where your company allows family cover, a covered employee can add one spouse, who must be 18 or older and accepts an invite and a short privacy screen. You and your spouse then share one family allowance. Each of you sees only how many sessions are left in the shared plan, such as "5 therapy sessions left". You never see what the other booked, with whom, or anything else. Your employer sees spouses only as a total number. Either of you can pay for a session yourself instead. When we invite your spouse we use the phone number you give us only to match the invite, and the invite expires after 14 days.
Your right to leave. You can leave the company plan at any time from Profile. Your cover ends, your work email link is erased, and your Femease account, bookings and data stay yours. A spouse can leave at any time too. The spouse's cover pauses or ends with the employee's. If you leave the company or do not re-confirm within 14 days of a reminder, your cover pauses; nothing is deleted, and you can keep using Femease at normal prices. Your other rights, to see, download, correct or delete your data, are in "Your rights" below and work the same way. Questions or complaints go to our Grievance Officer, Vaibhav Tripathi, at hello@femease.in.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access: get a summary of your data and how we use it. Use Profile > Privacy choices > Download my data for a full copy, including your Community posts and health check results.
- Correction and updating: edit your profile, addresses and logs in the app, or write to us.
- Erasure: delete tracker data in Tracker settings, a health check result on its result screen, a Community post or reply on the post, or your whole account in Profile > Delete account. You can also ask on the web at https://www.femease.in/delete-account.
- Withdraw consent: at any time, as easily as you gave it, in Profile > Privacy choices. Withdrawing does not affect what was done before. Withdrawing consent for health data deletes your health data, as explained above.
- Grievance redressal: complain to our Grievance Officer and get an answer.
- Nominate: name someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to. Write to us to set this up.
You can read this policy and our notices in English. We are working on Hindi and other languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution; write to us if you need one.

Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, strict access controls, private storage with short-lived links for chat attachments, one-time login codes that are never stored in readable form, and regular reviews.
