Your baby is about the size of a guava.

About 11.6 cm long and 100 g. Typical sizes; every baby grows at their own pace.

What’s happening this week

Your baby's eyes can sense light, even though the eyelids are still closed. The muscles in the back and neck are getting stronger, so your baby can hold their head up more. Arms and legs are moving a lot.

Changes in your body

Some women feel first movements between 16 and 22 weeks, often like bubbles or a flutter. In a second pregnancy you may notice them earlier. If you don't feel anything yet, that's very common.

Notice the little flutters

Early movements are easy to miss. Try lying quietly on your side after a meal and paying attention. Over the coming weeks they will get stronger.

Bleeding, fluid leaking, fewer baby movements, a bad headache, blurred vision or sudden swelling: call your doctor or hospital now. In an emergency, call 112.
