Your baby is about the size of a mango.

Your baby is about the size of a mango.

About 14 cm long and 190 g. Typical sizes; every baby grows at their own pace.

What’s happening this week

Your baby's ears are in their final place, and they may hear your heartbeat and voice. The nerves are getting a protective coating that helps messages travel. Your baby may yawn and get hiccups.

Changes in your body

Your appetite may be strong now. You may feel dizzy if you stand up quickly, so get up slowly. Your doctor may plan an anomaly scan soon, usually between 18 and 22 weeks.

The anomaly scan

This detailed scan checks how your baby's organs and body are growing. In India the law does not allow the baby's sex to be told, so the scan is all about health.

Bleeding, fluid leaking, fewer baby movements, a bad headache, blurred vision or sudden swelling: call your doctor or hospital now. In an emergency, call 112.
