42 weeks pregnant

Your baby is about the size of a big watermelon.
About 51 cm long and 3.5 kg. Typical sizes; every baby grows at their own pace.
What’s happening this week
Some babies simply take a little longer. Your doctor will keep a close watch on how your baby and the placenta are doing. Babies born now may have dry, peeling skin, which settles soon after birth.
Changes in your body
You may feel tired and impatient, and family may keep asking. Your doctor will want to see you and the baby and talk about next steps, which may include monitoring or induction. Keep feeling for movements and call the hospital if anything feels different.
Call if anything changes
If your baby moves less than usual, your waters break, or you have bleeding or pain, call your hospital now, don't wait.
Bleeding, fluid leaking, fewer baby movements, a bad headache, blurred vision or sudden swelling: call your doctor or hospital now. In an emergency, call 112.
