5 weeks pregnant

Your baby is about the size of a mustard seed.
About 2 mm long. Typical sizes; every baby grows at their own pace.
What’s happening this week
Your baby's brain, backbone and heart are beginning to form. A tiny tube is taking shape that will become the brain and spinal cord. The heart is starting to form too.
Changes in your body
Tiredness, sore breasts and needing to pee more often are common now. Some women start to feel queasy. Your mood may swing as well, which is very common with all the new hormones.
Rest when your body asks
Short naps and an earlier bedtime may help with the deep tiredness of early pregnancy. For many women it eases in the second trimester.
Bleeding, fluid leaking, fewer baby movements, a bad headache, blurred vision or sudden swelling: call your doctor or hospital now. In an emergency, call 112.
