Your baby is about the size of a cabbage.

Your baby is about the size of a cabbage.

About 40 cm long and 1.3 kg. Typical sizes; every baby grows at their own pace.

What’s happening this week

Your baby's brain is growing fast and its surface is starting to form folds. The bone marrow now makes red blood cells. The fine lanugo hair is starting to fall away.

Changes in your body

You may feel clumsy as your balance shifts. Mood swings and worries about the birth are common. If you feel low or anxious most days for two weeks or more, talk to your doctor.

It's okay to ask for help

Let family help with heavy chores and lifting. Share how you're feeling with someone you trust. You don't have to manage everything alone.

Bleeding, fluid leaking, fewer baby movements, a bad headache, blurred vision or sudden swelling: call your doctor or hospital now. In an emergency, call 112.
