Your baby is about the size of a muskmelon.

About 45 cm long and 2.1 kg. Typical sizes; every baby grows at their own pace.

What’s happening this week

Your baby's lungs and nervous system keep maturing. Babies born from now usually need less help, though some still need special care. Your baby may be settling into a head-down position.

Changes in your body

Your bump is high and you may feel full after small meals. Sleep can be harder. Itching on your hands and feet, a severe headache or blurred vision needs a call to your doctor straight away.

Talk about your birth wishes

Talk with your doctor about the birth: who can be with you, options for pain relief and what happens if plans change. Write your wishes down.

Bleeding, fluid leaking, fewer baby movements, a bad headache, blurred vision or sudden swelling: call your doctor or hospital now. In an emergency, call 112.
