Your baby is about the size of a small watermelon.

About 46 cm long and 2.4 kg. Typical sizes; every baby grows at their own pace.

What’s happening this week

Your baby's kidneys are fully developed and the liver can process some waste. Most of the growing now is putting on weight. Movements may feel more like squirms and rolls than kicks.

Changes in your body

Your doctor may check your baby's position at your visits. You may feel heavy pressure low in your pelvis. If your baby moves less than usual, call your doctor or hospital now, don't wait.

Learn the signs of labour

Signs include regular, painful tightenings that get stronger, a sticky pinkish mucus called a show, low back pain or your waters breaking. Call your hospital when you notice them.

Bleeding, fluid leaking, fewer baby movements, a bad headache, blurred vision or sudden swelling: call your doctor or hospital now. In an emergency, call 112.
