Your baby is about the size of a big papaya.

About 47 cm long and 2.6 kg. Typical sizes; every baby grows at their own pace.

What’s happening this week

Your baby is shedding most of the vernix and lanugo. Many babies are head-down by now. If yours isn't, your doctor will talk to you about the options.

Changes in your body

Your baby may drop lower into your pelvis, which can make breathing easier but send you to the toilet more. Fluid leaking, bleeding or green or brown discharge needs a call to the hospital.

Be ready to go

Save your doctor's and hospital's numbers, keep your phone charged and keep your bag near the door. Make sure someone can take you at any hour.

Bleeding, fluid leaking, fewer baby movements, a bad headache, blurred vision or sudden swelling: call your doctor or hospital now. In an emergency, call 112.
