Your baby is about the size of a big pumpkin.

About 50 cm long and 3.1 kg. Typical sizes; every baby grows at their own pace.

What’s happening this week

Your baby's organs are ready for life outside the womb. Fat is still being added, which will help keep your baby warm. Your baby already has a firm grip.

Changes in your body

You may feel pressure, aches and sharp twinges low in your pelvis as the baby moves down. Sleep may be broken. Call your hospital if your waters break, you have bleeding, or your baby moves less than usual.

Learn a little about feeding

Ask your doctor or the hospital about help with breastfeeding. Holding your baby skin to skin soon after birth may help feeding get started.

Bleeding, fluid leaking, fewer baby movements, a bad headache, blurred vision or sudden swelling: call your doctor or hospital now. In an emergency, call 112.
