Your baby is about the size of a big watermelon.

About 51 cm long and 3.5 kg. Typical sizes; every baby grows at their own pace.

What’s happening this week

Your baby has reached the due date. The skull bones are not joined yet, so they can shift a little during birth. Your baby is ready and waiting for the right time.

Changes in your body

Waiting can feel long and tiring. Many women don't go into labour on their due date. Keep feeling for movements, and call your hospital if anything feels different.

Stay in touch with your doctor

Your doctor will want to see you around now. Ask what happens if labour doesn't start on its own and when they'd like to check you next.

Bleeding, fluid leaking, fewer baby movements, a bad headache, blurred vision or sudden swelling: call your doctor or hospital now. In an emergency, call 112.
